What in the Heck is a Talker?
Tired of that A/S/L stuff? Want to meet some interesting people that actually care about what
you think and say? Try out a talker!
A talker is a way to chat on the Internet by using only text. You connect to a talker by
using what we call a telnet client to connect. A telnet
client is a program that allows you to connect to our central server. Once connected, you can
chat with any of our users from all around the world! We frequently have people online from
the mainland USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and sometimes European countries.
What are the advantages of doing this sort of chat as opposed to one of the web-based chats, AIM, ICQ, MSN,
IRC, or ISCA? Well, the environment is different. On AIM or MSN, you chat just with people
one-on-one. Here at TFB, you can chat one-on-one, or one-on-many, or whatever you want.
You can talk to the whole room, or only to one person. You can do actions, move to different rooms,
make a private room for you and another person, etc. There's just more flexibility to your chatting
experience at a talker than something simple like AIM or MSN.
We offer many levels of "power". You can advance through levels by gaining online time by
being on our talker a long time. With your commands you have the ability to do fun things:
write messages on public message boards, go to different rooms, do actions, play games,
and other fun things.
We like to consider our talker a "community". We have online parties, get-togethers, meetings,
and sometimes an occasional wedding. It's a place where people get to know each other, not just
pop on and off and never see each other again. We hold interesting conversations, do fun things,
and have a good time.
Try us out! You might just like us!
